Locations:In-person in Missouri / Telehealth across various states
Hi! My name is Hannah Bast. When I was 11, I tagged along to one of my older sister’s classes at Saint Louis University. Her class was cooking that day, and I got to taste everything they made. I walked into that kitchen, fell in love, and knew right then that I wanted to do the same thing someday. From that moment, my heart was set on nutrition and SLU, and I’m grateful it all came true.
The more I learned, the more fascinated I became. Nutrition let me combine my childhood love of cooking with an understanding of how food supports our bodies. I believe food isn’t just fuel. It plays a role in healing, managing medical conditions, and connecting us to our communities.
The longer I work in dietetics, the more I enjoy the people I get to help. Food can be a sensitive topic, and being someone you trust with your experiences is a gift. I love hearing about where you’ve been, working through roadblocks together, and exploring new ideas. I want you to feel safe and comfortable with me. I’m not here to judge your eating habits, but to help you find a balance between what you want and what your body needs. I also love learning from you about what has worked along the way!

My Approach
My fundamental beliefs and values about health, wellness, and nutrition revolve around respect for the person and a compassionate outlook. I take a weight-inclusive, all-foods-fit approach, and I believe nutrition is a very individual journey; very few things can be generalized for everyone. No matter where you are starting, I desire to be a resource for making this journey specifically yours. I am here to elicit conversations about change and how we can work together to make the changes you want for your lifestyle. I will lead with empathy, support your self-efficacy, work through any barriers, and identify obstacles that could prevent change from occurring. I am here to motivate you, not make the adjustments for your life. The medical profession can be difficult to navigate, and I hope to be someone you can trust.
Outside the Office
Outside of the office, I keep busy with a variety of activities! I love to read and even reached the point of reading a book a day. I love to be social and get together with friends from all walks of life. My friends and I always find exciting things to do, such as trivia nights, movie nights, pickleball games, board game nights, and brunch outings. I also love to spend time with my family, especially my nieces and nephew. I enjoy traveling as much as possible and have a goal to go to all 50 states one day!
