Hi, I’m Amy Costa! I took a less traditional path to becoming a registered dietitian: I left a culinary career to go to graduate school. It wasn’t the usual route, but I’m so glad it led me here.
My culinary background gives me a unique perspective on food. I love talking about what to do with it, how to prepare it, where to find it, and, most importantly, what it can do for us. I’d love to bring that experience to our work together. Wherever you’re starting from and wherever you’re headed, I want food to be a positive part of your journey.
I Love Working With…
Ages: 18 years +
- People who want a better understanding of food and how it can support their health
- People who want to build confidence in the kitchen and find practical, enjoyable ways to prepare food
- People with a new medical nutrition need who want support making changes that still feel enjoyable and realistic
- People who want to move away from dieting and learn to eat with Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size® principles
- People looking to heal their relationship with food and move away from disordered eating patterns
- People with eating disorders who want compassionate support in their recovery
- People considering or currently taking GLP-1 medications who want support meeting their nutrition needs, managing side effects, and keeping a positive relationship with food
My Approach
My hope is to create a comfortable space for honest conversation, learning, and acceptance. I take a weight-inclusive approach grounded in Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size®, and I believe there’s room for every food on your plate. Together, we’ll set realistic goals and work toward them using current, evidence-based practices. I look forward to supporting you along the way!
Outside the Office
I have a really big yard and spend a lot of time gardening or working with my bees and playing with my dogs. My favorite “day off” activities are to go for a hike and then spend the rest of the day cooking dinner. Or on a rainy day, I could go for a book and hot tea.
