Hi! My name is Laura Tucker. I am the Operations Manager and a Registered Dietitian at Branz Nutrition Counseling. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher with a focus on functional movement and yin yoga. I work with individuals 6 years old (+ families) and older seeking support with adequate, balanced, and varied nutrition.
I became a dietitian because I grew up in an active family and community that valued health and wellness deeply — though nutrition wasn’t my first major, I quickly changed course after falling in love with my first nutrition class. From there, I had the opportunity to work and grow at a local outpatient eating disorder practice, and I knew right away this was the field I wanted to build my career in.
What I enjoy most about working with clients is helping you explore and redefine what health and wellness actually means for you including fostering small, sustainable shifts in your relationship with food, movement, and body, and encouraging a little more self-compassion along the way.
My hope is that you feel empowered to live a fuller life that meets your nutrition and movement needs, free from the rigid “shoulds” of eating and exercise especially if that doesn’t serve you, and that when we look back together, you can see how those small changes added up to real, sustainable health and wellness.
I Love Working With…
Ages: 6 years old +
- Individuals interested in ditching diet culture and learning more about Intuitive Eating and exploring a Health at Every Size (HASE®) approach to their health journey
- Individuals interested in a holistic approach to nutrition and wellness, including how other dimensions of health impact your relationship with food, movement, and body image
- Individuals and families navigating picky eating and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
- Individuals with eating disorders, including restrictive eating disorders and binge eating disorder
- Individuals looking to improve their relationship with food, movement, and body image through a self-compassion lens
My Approach
My approach to sessions tends to be gentle and curious. I like to thoughtfully talk through situations where we can determine patterns and places you may be able to intervene in the future. I like sharing how health and wellness is multifaceted and interconnected. For example, working on your sleep hygiene can in turn help your relationship with food, movement, or body. I may offer supplementary resources, including podcasts, books/workbooks, and handouts/worksheets to help you learn and process the topics we discuss in session in different ways. At the end of each session, I encourage naming any takeaways that feel realistic and feasible for you!
Outside the Office
When I’m not at work, I enjoy being a homebody – cooking, cleaning and organizing, and dreaming up home projects. I particularly love making homemade pizza. I enjoy cooking classes and Cardinals baseball games, but my absolute favorite thing to do in St. Louis with my husband is watching a show at The Fox Theatre.
